Trained in Ferdinand Humbert's studio from 1906 and wife of art critic Henri Martinie from 1913, Berthe Martinie frequented the sculptors Robert Wlérick and Jean Carton. In 1925, she had her first exhibition at Galerie Weil.
At the end of the 20s, she devoted herself exclusively to sculpture. Animal subjects were her predilection. She took part in numerous Salons (Salons d'Automne and des Tuileries) and the 1937 Universal Exhibition.
