CORSICA. Pierre DIONISI (1904-1976), painter and sculptor of Corsican origin. Study for the Deluge, 1925. Oil and pencil sketch, 88 x 53 cm. Signed and dated in pencil upper left, with the words: "Étude pour le déluge, Dionisi, 1925 (Alberta)". Originally from Corsica (Chigliacci de Campulori), son of a Dionisi, wife Vielledent, a pupil of Fernand Cormon and Raoul Arus, Pierre Dionisi exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1921 to 1923, and was awarded the Prix de Rome for painting in 1923, at the age of 19, for his Christ en Croix. Among other works, he painted the parietal decor of the marriage hall in Puteaux town hall, inaugurated in 1934. Provenance: Yves Hamon collection.
