Pair of corner pieces; Spain, c. 1850.
Gilded stuccoed wood.
Presents faults and marble top.
Measurements: 86 x 70 x 51 cm.
Each of the two corner consoles has cabriole-shaped legs, joined by a chambrana decorated in the center with a finial and secured to the floor by a worked crossbeam. The waist of the furniture has a decoration based on vegetal elements, and the center of the front presents an openwork based on scrolls, vegetal motifs and forms reminiscent of the Rococo Rococo of the 18th century, but with its movement and contraposition very smoothed.
To this reminiscence of Rococo furniture details must be added the strong classicist influence of other decorative elements of the consoles. This mixture of influences is common in 19th century French cabinetmaking, which is inspired by styles of the past to create examples adapted to the tastes and spaces of the time.
It presents faults and marble cover.
