"Adonis", early twentieth century.
Sculpture in stucco.
It has a crack in a finger.
Measurements: 138 x 45 x 32 cm.
Sculpture of classical inspiration representing a young ephebe, possibly Adonis, a character of Greek mythology to whom numerous legends linked to love and death are attributed. His unsurpassed beauty wanted to be replicated by the sculptors of antiquity, concretizing in the representation of male nudes with turned limbs and subtle contrapostos, like the one we show. The slight inclination of the hips imprints a barely perceptible sinuous movement that enhances the perfection of the anatomy. Sympathetic ringlets frame a countenance that exudes a serenity in keeping with the elegance of the body.
