Chinese censer. Qing Dynasty, 19th century. "Zhongli Quan." In silver. Measurements: 14,5 x 16 x 7 cm. Sculptural censer, made entirely in silver. It represents Zhongli Quan, Taoist deity of Chinese mythology, riding a Fu Dog and carrying his magic fan. Taoists consider him the first true Yang master, and in the stories describing his meeting with Lü Dongbin before attaining immortality he is called master Yunfang. He possesses a feather fan with which he can revive the dead and transform stones into gold and silver and with which he saved China from a famine that was ravaging it. It symbolizes abundance.
