English school, XIX century "Portrait of a lady". Oil on canvas. Measurements: 54 x 41 cm; 48 x 62 cm (frame). Nineteenth-century portrait of an empress or court lady. The painter follows French late-baroque or rococo models, which is appreciated in the juicy chromatic ranges that define the silky qualities of the cloths, the sumptuous brocade in silver thread of the red bodice, and the amber smoothness of the pleated skirt. A filtered light filters through the window, which cuts a fragment of sky with cottony clouds.
