Italian school of the XIX century.
"View of Cadiz".
Oil on canvas.
Measurements: 54 x 91 cm; 77 x 108 cm (frame).
Nineteenth-century painting, ascribed to the genre of the "veduti". We recognize in it a workmanship of Italian school, probably of the circle of Carlo Bossini (Lugano, 1815-Turin, 1884). This painter immortalized the city of Cadiz with different views of its markets, squares and people. In this scene, around a commemorative column, different human groups are agitated: women with mantillas accompanied by their children, gentlemen wearing tall top hats, soldiers walking in pairs, a Napoleonic general with a tricorn... The architecture that frames the square has stately facades, with windows protected by wrought iron latticework. The sea line can be seen on the right side.
