[CURIOSA] La vie de garçon dans les hôtels-garnis de la capitale, ou de l'amour à la minute
Chez les principaux libraires du Palais-Royal à Paris, 1820 - Very rare first edition, with a fold-out frontispiece engraved by Choquet after Burdet.
A very attractive copy in an original full marbled paper binding with morocco title-piece, slightly rubbed.
The curious frontispiece depicts a man ("le parasite indiscret") peering through a bull's-eye into the next room, where a topless woman is seated next to a man at a table featuring books and a skull and crossbones. Note the amusing captions annotated "-by means of my tendril, I saw some..... oh? How white and round they were!!!...." and on the other side "Lie down, Casimir, you'll be cold as ice....".
