[CURIOSA] Pierre-Jean de BERANGER - Old, New and Unpublished Songs Chez Baudouin Frères à Paris, 1828 - Very attractive edition illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author, 40 colored hors-texte lithographs by Monnier, and 57 black-and-white hors-texte illustrations by Deveria, Fragonard, Charlet etc., as well as numerous vignettes at the end of the plates. A magnificent copy, sumptuously bound in Thouvenin-Jeune's signature binding in full cold-stamped red calf, double framed with roulettes and cold fillets, 4-nerved gilt spine, richly ornamented caissons, gilt lace borders to counterpads and gilt fillet returns to edges, gilt roulettes, gilt edges. Titles and endpapers in morocco (one endpaper missing, some rubbing and small tears not serious, very good overall condition and very fresh interiors practically free of freckling.
