Sober, elegant Romantic period bindings in half fawn calf with corners, spines with five false nerves decorated with gilt fillets, title and author in gilt lettering. Fresh bindings and interiors in excellent condition, scattered foxing, leather missing from one corner. Otherwise excellent condition. Without the fictitious mention of second edition, particularly rare and sought-after in this condition. In-8, 410pp, 428pp. Provenance: Louis-Clair de Beaupoil de Saint-Aulaire (1778-1854) with bookplate "Bibliothèque d'étioles, sainte-aulaire. His library was actually kept at Château d'Etioles.
