NOTICE
Camille Pissarro encouraged and supported his son in his artistic studies in Gisors and Paris. Paul-Emile was taught by Claude Monet in Eragny, and exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in 1905.
Influenced by Paul Cézanne, he developed his own style in the 1920s, working with knives in his boat studio. During the summer, he traveled with his friends Kees Van Dongen, Maurice de Vlaminck and Raoul Dufy in the French countryside, painting from the motif. He discovers the Calvados region, particularly the Orne, during his summer peregrinations, and tirelessly depicts the rivers and landscapes of this region. He held his first solo exhibition in New York in 1967.
