NOTICE
Jean Hugo, great-grandson of Victor Hugo, began his artistic career after the First World War. A frequent visitor to artistic circles, he was a friend of Jean Cocteau, Pablo Picasso, Max Jacob and Erik Satie.
The Pierre Colle gallery began exhibiting his work in the mid-1930s. His work is imbued with a dreamlike quality, featuring portraits, landscapes and still lifes in a naïve style of soft, shimmering colors.
