BIOGRAPHY
Bernard Lorjou is a French expressionist painter, famous for his chaotic, intense scenes, his style characterized by thick layers of paint and powerful brushstrokes. He is known for his use of paint on canvas without prior sketching, which adds spontaneity and vitality to his canvases. He is often associated with the Art Informel movement for his spontaneity and gesturality. After the Second World War and during the 1950s, he was, along with Bernard Buffet, Jean Carzou and Alfred Manessier, one of the most cited and well-known French painters of the time.
