NOTICE
Zao Wou-Ki (1920-2013) was a Chinese painter and printmaker. Associated with the New School of Paris and lyrical abstraction in the 1950s, he is known as an artist who fuses the traditions of Chinese art with modern Western trends.
His highly diverse oeuvre spans several artistic periods, from the realistic portraits and landscapes of 1935-1949 to abstract canvases influenced by Paul Klee.
Zao Wou-Ki collaborates with various ceramic manufacturers to produce services with abstract decorations. The first collaborations began with the Manufacture de Sèvres, which produced the Diane service in the 1970s-1980s. Later, the Manufacture de Bernardaud in Limoges produced luxury limited editions, notably around 2008.
