Nolin, Jean Baptiste. Le Theatre du monde ... contenant les cartes generales et particulieres des royaumes et et etats qui le composent. Paris, by the author, [1668-1746]. In 2nd (540 x 374 mm). Engraved frontispiece followed by 99 maps, 95 of which are double-page or folded with beautiful coeval coloring of the boundaries except for the "Plan routier de la ville et faubg. de Paris" (halo to upper margin, a few maps also with halo to lower margin, a few papers with wormhole to white margin, traces of censorship likely post-French Revolution to cartouches with royal coats of arms, a few tears and stains). Coeval bindings in bazzana with friezes and title in gold on spine (delicate restorations).
Composite atlas containing among others the beautiful world map with ten vignettes, Siam of 1742 with the beautiful cartouche depicting an elephant, the result of Nolin's collaboration with Coronelli, America, the "partie orientale" and "occidentale du Canada ou de la Nouvelle France," the "Nouveau Mexique" and the "Archipelague du Mexique."
