[Horses]. Eisenberg, Baron d'. The perfection and defects of the horse. Florence, Stamperia Imperiale e Allegrini, 1753. In 2nd (365 x 253 mm);[4], CXLIII, [1] pages. Illustrated frontispiece, woodcut vignette on title page printed in red and black, 23 copper-engraved plates including 1 folded, text in French and Italian (woodworm hole in inner margin of some papers, some marginal flourishes). Leather binding with friezes and title in gilt on spine, red boards (small woodworm holes on spine, missing on plates).
Work accompanied by the splendid copper-engraved plates by Carlo Gregori. Eisenberg, German hippologist and draughtsman, wrote this work when he was director and first horseman of the Academy of Pisa.
