[Horses]. Silicius, Octavian. School of horsemen. Orvieto, Colaldi and Aquilini, 1598. In 4° (190 x 138 mm);[8], 172, [8] pages. Dedicator Pietro Aldobrandini's coat of arms on title page (small lack at lower white margin of 4 papers, short at head.) Coeval vellum binding with manuscript title at spine, traces of two endpapers (lack at spine).
Rare first edition, printed in Orvieto, "in which mainly is discussed the manners, & qualities of horses, in what manner they should be disciplined, & preserved, & anco to improve the breeds." The treatise was compiled by the gentleman from Troy Ottaviano Siliceo, and given to print posthumously by his grandson, Giovanni Battista Siliceo.
