Specimen with beards and autograph dedication by translator Colombo. First edition that was actually printed by Giambattista Bodoni's widow. Also in the lot are Colombo's Il giuoco degli scacchi in the 1832 and 1857 editions, Ulysse Desroches' Trattato elementare del giuoco degli scacchi of 1837, Franco Sacchetti's Delle novelle of 1724, which in novella LXVIII discusses the "giuoco delli scacchi," and Arrighetto ovvero Trattato of 1730, the second Italian document in which the game of chess is mentioned.
