RENOIR (Auguste). Autograph letter signed "Renoir" to Maurice Gangnat. [Paris, October 12, 1918, according to the postmark]. One p. in-16, address on back. "My dear friend, I am so tired of everything, still suffering, that I was obliged to refuse the sale to three art dealers who broke their noses. I'm in too much pain not to do much that I won't let my canvas out..." MAURICE GANGNAT (1856-1924), a great admirer of Impressionist paintings, was a wealthy industrialist in the metal industry. His collection was auctioned in 1925 at Hôtel Drouot.
