LOUIS XIII. Autograph letter signed "Louis" [AU CARDINAL DE RICHELIEU]. Saint-Germain-en-Laye, November 15, 1641. 2 pp. in-4, dry stamp with the arms of France; tab in margin. "I THANK YOU FOR THE CARE YOU HAVE TAKEN OF ME, I FOUND MYSELF INCOMODE THIS NIGHT, which forced me to take this morning a small remedy that made me seeider forces those, as a result of which the 3 doctors who are icy were of the opinion that I take another 3 dragmes of cenay [sic for "senna"], which I did. You were kind enough to send me news of Justel [perhaps Christophe Justel, superintendent of the house of the Duc de Bouillon, who had just been defeated by France in July at the battle of La Marfée]. If the weather continues, they will suffer much more. I beg you to inquire whether I will wear purple or black mourning, I give you the good day....
