Five Ayyubid or Mamluk marvered glass chess pieces, Egypt or Syria, 12th-14th century
Green, blue and orange glass and ribboned glass paste, in the shape of a flask and a shell.

Al Sabah Collection, inv. n°LNS 354 G., which appears to belong to the same group as the red ribboned brown glass pawn. Of the same size, pattern and decoration, the two pieces could have belonged to the same game, distinguishing each opponent by the color of their marbling. D. Freeman Fahid mentions another piece of the same type in a private collection.
