Two Castelli plates, Grue workshop, (Carlo Antonio ?) first half of the 18th Maiolica. Dimensions ca. 31.3x42 cm@@@ frame 42.5x52.5 cm. Conservation: very good@@@ the two plaques show felting. Two rectangular majolica plaques are decorated in polychrome with great fire and depict Bacchus and Ariadne on triumphal chariots and, the other, dancing figures with Bacchus and Silenus accompanying them. These classical scenes echo the famous nuptial procession of Annibale Carracci's early 17th-century fresco in the Galleria di Palazzo Farnese, taken up by several series of engravings adopted in the decorative repertoire of the castle workshops. The pictorial formula, in strong polychromy with rich detail, recalls the important plaque initialed by Carlo Antonio Grue "CAG.F" preserved in Milan, Castello Sforzesco (see L.Arbace, card in, R.Ausenda (ed.), Le ceramiche. Musei d'Arti Applicate, Milan 2000, vol I, no. 482)
