Old map of Germany by B. Baker, c. 1740 - Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation - Austria, Czech Republic, PolandAccording to Wikipedia, Benjamin Baker was a map engraver and publisher. He engraved numerous maps for William Faden and various leading publishers before becoming chief engraver for the Ordenance Survey in 1804. His duties included not only executing the more complex engravings, but also supervising the other engravers and overseeing the printing of the maps. Baker and his team were regarded as "the best topographical engravers in Europe" (Seymour).
The map is in very good condition despite its age. Dimensions approx. 44 cm x approx. 39.5 cm
