ADOR GUSTAVE: (1845-1928) Swiss Politician. President of the Confederation in 1919. Ador served as the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross 1910-28. A.L.S., ` G. Ador´, one page, small 4to, n.p., 2nd December 1917, to an unidentified woman, in French. Ador apologizes for his wrong explanation, and states in part ` Je suis poursuivi par l´impression de vous avoir jeudi soir donné deux faux renseignements. Je vous ai parlé de l´Intelligenz Blatt au lieu de l´Anzeiger für die Stadt Rein... Excusez ma distraction et croyez au grand plaisir que j´ai eu de me trouver près de vous à l´Ambassade...´ (Translation: " I am haunted by the impression that I gave you two false informations on Thursday evening. I spoke to you about the Intelligenz Blatt instead of the Anzeiger für die Stadt Rein... Excuse my distraction and believe in the great pleasure I had in finding myself near you at the Embassy...")
