Symphonie Espagnole, written for the violinist Pablo de Sarasate in 1874. A.L.S., with his initials
E. L., to the verso of his personal printed oblong 12mo Visiting Card, featuring his printed name to the centre and address at Boulevard Malesherbes (Paris) at the base, n.d., to a gentleman, in French. Lalo apologises, and adds that his correspondent's request has come too late, explaining
'je n'ai pas une seule place, il n'en reste plus une seule au theatre, et il m'est impossible de vous faire entrer' (Translation:
'I haven't got a single seat left in the theatre, and it's impossible for me to get you in') although offers him a seat for the second performance if he wishes to have it. VG
