A.L.S., with his initials, to the recto of his personal printed oblong 12mo black bordered Visiting Card, featuring his printed name to the centre and address at Avenue de Villars (Paris) at the base, n.d., to Louis-Albert Bourgault-Ducoudray, in French. The composer writes, in full, 'Ayant definitivement quitte Paris jusqu'en octobre, il m'a ete impossible mon cher Bourgault de me rendre hier a votre appel, mais j'ai ecrit de mon cote au ministre et au secretaire des Beau Arts pour dire que je m'associas de tout coeur a votre demarche dont j'espere un heureux resultat milles souvenirs amicaux' (Translation: 'Having definitively left Paris until October, it was impossible for me, my dear Bourgault, to make your call yesterday, but I wrote to the Minister and the Secretary of Fine Arts to say that I wholeheartedly support your initiative, which I hope will have a happy outcome'). One very small stain to the upper edge, otherwise VG Louis-Albert Bourgault-Ducoudray (1840-1910) French composer and pianist.
