[BATTLE OF BRITAIN]: FARMER JAMES N. W.: (1915-1999) British fighter pilot of World War II who participated in the Battle of Britain. D.S.,
J N Farmer, one page, 4to, n.p. (RAF Duxford, Cambridgeshire?), 18th September 1940. The partially printed document, completed in Farmer's hand, in pencil, is a Combat Report (Form "F", marked
Secret) providing details of one of the pilot's aerial engagements involving the destruction of a Junkers Ju 88 and possibly a Dornier Do 17 over the Thames estuary during the Battle of Britain, the General Report stating, in part,
´I was leader of Yellow Section & attached in flight vic, from line astern of Red leader. I attacked a Do: 215 (or 17) with my initial burst.....I broke away to the west and chased a Ju 88 which had left the formation and gave it the remaining rounds. Pieces flew off it and it dived into a cloud.....I did not see it again either above or below the cloud´. One file hole to the upper edge, just affecting one word of printed text, and with a few minor, very light creases. VG
