Born in St. Petersburg in 1896 and died in Nice in 1983, was a painter of the Russian avant-garde of the 1920s. From the 50s onwards, during his French period, he returned to his pictorial formulas, assimilating large painted woods and his singular taste for the vertical. In his upward-looking work, the artist detected an aspiration towards the elevation of the soul and flight towards the sublime.
