REDON ODILON: (1840-1916) French Symbolist artist. A.L.S., Odilon Redon, one page, 8vo, in bold fountain pen purple ink, Paris, 21st March 1900, to Madame Mallarmé, in French. Redon, on behalf of his spouse asks Mme Mallarmé about a lunch invitation previously agreed, and states ` Madame et amie, Madame Redon me prie de vous rappeler que vous lui avez promis de venir avec mademoiselle Geneviève, déjeuner vendredi, si votre santé le permet. Nous vous attendrons avec le plus grand plaisir pour passer une bonne journée ensemble...´ (Translation: " Madam and friend, Madame Redon asks me to remind you that you promised to come with Miss Geneviève for lunch on Friday, if your health permits. We will be waiting for you with the greatest pleasure to spend a good day together...") With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope, addressed in Redon´s hand, postmarked and stamped. EX The present letter is addressed to Maria Christina Gerhard, the widow of French poet Stephane Mallarmé (1842-1898). Genevieve Mallarmé was their daughter.
