HAGGARD H. RIDER: (1856-1925) English writer of adventure fiction including King Solomon's Mines. L.S., H. Rider Haggard, on two sides of his printed correspondence card, Ditchingham House, Norfolk, 2nd December 1904, to Messrs. Dibdin & Co. Haggard states that he is obliged to his correspondents for ´kindly telling me of the carbuncle necklace´ and continues ´If you do not mind the trouble of sending it, I should like to see it, but I daresay the price will be beyond me´. Together with a second L.S., H Rider Haggard, on two sides of his printed correspondence card, Ditchingham House, Norfolk, 20th May 1899, to Rev. H. B. Johnson. Haggard thanks his correspondent for their letter and remarks ' The figures you give certainly form a striking example of the depopulation of rural districts which I fear is very widespread'. VG, 2
