W. H. Auden, one page, 8vo, Kirchstetten, 20th August 1972, to Mr. Schreiber. Auden returns some proofs (no longer present) and continues to remark
´The difficulty about your proposal is that I have a new book of poems just coming out, which means that I haven´t many new ones, only those I´ve written this year´.
Together with a second A.L.S.,
W. H. Auden, one page, small 4to, Christ Church, Oxford, 12th March n.y., also to Mr. Schreiber. Auden informs his correspondent that at present he has six new poems and further writes
´I don´t think you can list me, since I have no idea about how much more I shall be able to write in the next six months´.
Also including a Western Union telegram (received copy) from Auden to the
Atlantic Monthly, advising of an error,

Epistle to a Godson and Other Poems
was published in 1972 and would be the last book of poems which Auden completed in his lifetime.
