BELL ALEXANDER GRAHAM: (1847-1922) Scottish scientist & inventor, credited with inventing the first practical telephone. A very fine vintage signed sepia 8 x 10 photograph of Bell in a luxurious open-air pedicab, the inventor looking resplendent in a plain white suit as he sits comfortably in the wicker seat at the front of the tricycle. The original press photograph bears the credit stamp of Underwood & Underwood to the verso and a neatly affixed printed caption indicates that the photograph was taken at Palm Beach (Florida) on 27th January 1916. Signed ( ´Alexander Graham Bell´) by Bell with his name alone in black fountain pen ink to a light area at the base of the image. Accompanied by the large folded front panel of the original registered post envelope addressed to Mr. Y. Minami of Okura & Co. Ltd in New York City. Signed photographs of Bell are rare and desirable, and the present example is a particularly unusual and appealing image enhanced by an excellent example of Bell´s signature. Some very light, extremely minor surface creasing and a few very minimal traces of former mounting to the verso, VG
