A RARE PAIR OF PORCELAIN CUPS FOR THE OTTOMAN MARKET China, Qing dynasty, 18th century h cm 4.5 x d cm 8
Painted overglaze on an intense cobalt blue background with crescent moons and stars with Quranic inscriptions in gold around the edges, the body features three lobed oval cartouches with red and green enameled borders with Quranic inscriptions in gold inside; at the center inside, they are painted with a golden chrysanthemum surrounded by a floral border enameled in famille verte enamels, as on the foot.
