Rare pair of "Coin de Feu" cabriolet-back armchairs in molded and waxed beech and walnut. The curved backrest features curved armrests with cuffs, supported by recessed brackets. The circular seat and curved belt rest on small cambered feet, finished with scrolls. They are covered in emerald-green chased silk velvet, edged with curved brass nails on a braid.

Geneva Collection (Acquired by the previous owners from Galerie Segoura, Paris, in 1984).
Comparison with a Burgat-stamped bergère (fig.1) shows a similar design to our "Coins de Feu" pair. The general shape and reduced ornamental register are similar. The backrest with the same shoulders, the similar opening of the armrests, the type of recessed armrest console, the fan-shaped upper part of the foot and the shape of the moldings. All these elements support an attribution to the same chair joiner and a dating of circa 1750 - 1755.
