Large octagonal-shaped center table with moving... Lot 103

Large octagonal-shaped center table with moving sides in molded, carved, gilded and lacquered limewood. It features a rich Rocaille-style décor of foliate scrolls, garlands of flowers, oves and culottes. The top features marble veneer marquetry, with a central medallion in fiorito alabaster and eight reserves in sea-green marble, framed in Sienna yellow. The molded belt is highlighted by openwork acanthus scrolls. It rests on four double-cambered uprights finished with scrolls, and joined by an X-shaped brace embellished with a large central finial. Central Italy. Papal States. Probably Rome. Barocchetto period, circa 1750. H_80 cm D_150 cm. Restorations: to carved decorations, frames and joints. Provenance: Former Pietro Acorsi collection.
