Very handsome lady's crossbow-fronted "à hauteur... Lot 186

Very handsome lady's crossbow-fronted "à hauteur d'appui" secretary in precious wood marquetry with floral decoration in reserves on a frieze background. It opens with a flap at the top, revealing four small drawers and five compartments, a sliding writing tablet in the middle and two leaves at the bottom concealing two compartments. The straight uprights, rounded at the front, rest on small cambered legs. It is adorned with finely chased and gilded bronze fittings, such as lock escutcheons, scrolled foliage corner falls, draw knob, apron and set clogs. Antique green Greek marble top with corbin. Stamped : C.CHEVALLIER (1700-1771). Charles CHEVALLIER. Master before 1738. Paris. Louis XV period. H_87 cm W_44 cm D_121 cm Restored marble. Restorations and holes in the inlaid decoration.
