HEUVELMANS Lucienne Antoinette (1885 - 1944) vierge à l'enfant, exotic wood, signed, ht: 25 ( Lucienne Heuvelmans, who entered the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in 1902, trained with sculptors Laurent Marqueste and Emmanuel Hannaux. She became the first woman to win the Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1911 with her work "Électre veillant sur le sommeil d'Oreste", an event hailed as a feminist victory. Staying at the Villa Médicis from January 1912 to December 1914, she made history for women artists).
