(active in Paris in the 18th century)
Portrait De Guillaume-Jacques De Prez, Baron De La Queue et Seigneur D'Andrivon with his dog
Oil on canvas, 82X65 cm
Inscribed on verso: Peint par Bonneville en 1751
Provenance:
Milan, private collection
The work finds precise comparisons with the canvas exhaled in 2015 by the Parisian auction house Daguerre on November 10, 2015, lot 111 (fig. 1; oil on canvas, 82 x 65 cm) and depicting Guillaume-Jacques de Prez, Baron de La Queue and Lord of Andrivon at the age of 43 as stated on the verso of the painting in which it reads: 'par Bonneville...' and the date 1756, thus made 5 years later than this one under consideration. The artist's known output counts only portraits and in most cases made during the last decades of the century. From these two works, therefore, it can be deduced that Bonneville was already active from the sixth decade.
