(London or possibly Scotland, 1607 - Delft, 1638) Cavalry clash Oil on panel, cm 24.5X28 Provenance: Private collection Trained with his younger brother and uncle Palamedes Palamedesz II, the painter was certainly active between 1626 and 1638, terms that can also be deduced from the existence of his dated works. He worked mainly in Delft, where in 1627 he is registered in the local guild of St. Luke, except for the period 1631-1632 when he was in Antwerp, where he met and was portrayed by Antoon van Dyck. His output consists almost exclusively of battle scenes and landscapes in a style that denotes the influence of Esaias van de Velde (Amsterdam, 1587 ; The Hague, 1630).
