Charge of the cavalrymen of Monferrato at Montebello Oil on canvas, 81X175.5 cm The painting shown here, depicting the Battle of Montebello with the charge of the Monferrato cavalrymen, could be a study or replica of the painting made by Sebastiano De Albertis, currently housed in the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. In our painterly and highly animated canvas, we can perceive the ground shaking, the stones splashing under hooves, the dustbowl, the furious neighing, and the soldiers' war cry. In the center of the composition, illuminated by a ray of light, we can admire the horses energetically led by the soldiers.
