Oil under glass. 50 x 59,5 cm. With important period frame in carved and gilded wood, eighteenth century. PROVENANCE: Former collection of the Castillo de Son Mas*, in the village of Andratx (Mallorca). *Francesc Desmàs Doms became the owner of Son Mas in 1623. He married Paula Morlà and died in 1685. His son and heir, Jaume Desmàs Morlà, knight, held the title of lord of Son Mas and also of Son Vida until his death in 1716. After his death, Son Mas passed into the hands of his relatives, the Truyols, who were the Marquises de la Torre at the time. In 1787, the property was acquired by Antoni Badajoz Savell, Count of Savellà. Subsequently, it passed into the hands of the Counts of Peralada before returning to the Truyol family through a will. At the end of the 19th century, Antoni Mulet Ferragut bought the estate from the Marquises de la Torre and from 1883 began a major renovation of the buildings. By 1932, the owner was his brother Lluís Mulet Ferragut. Later, the property passed into the hands of the Ozonas family, who managed it as a restaurant and museum since the 1960s. The museum housed an outstanding art collection that included works by Ribera, Zurbarán, Lucas Cranach, Titian, Tintoretto, Luis de Morales and El Greco, as well as an important collection of ceramics, coins, furniture and other objects. In 1991, the Town Hall of Andratx acquired the property and in 1998 converted it into the headquarters of the municipality. To be related to an anonymous engraving of the same subject "Noe vinum bibit et inebriatur", ca. 1768, conserved in The British Museum, with inventory number: 1869,0410.2092.
