n.d. Circa 1930. Gouache and watercolor on wove paper. 34.5 x 51 cm. Signed. Mounted under passepartout and framed under glass. - Verso somewhat studio-marked, with label and traces of previous mounting. Overall very good, color-fresh condition.
Born in Blainville-Crevon in 1889, Suzanne Duchamp was not only the sister of the object artist Marcel Duchamp, she was also part of an extraordinary artistic environment of the 20th century, which had a lasting influence on her artistic development. Duchamp often worked extremely experimentally and with unconventional use of materials, but her oeuvre also included quite classical motifs and techniques such as the present watercolor.
