6 works from: Self Portraits. 1971. each drypoint on cream-colored, strong wove paper. Sheet dimensions 44.3 x 36.2 cm each. Each signed, dated and numbered. 3 works each with the copyright dry stamp below the image. 1 work with annotations by another hand in pencil verso. - Sporadically with less conspicuous brown stains, also verso. Each with traces of glue from former mounting. Overall in really good condition. Splendid and burnished impressions in rich black with co-printing facet. With delicate plate tone and strong platemark as well as the full margin and with scoop margin on the upper and lower sides.
College 47, 48, 50, 52, 53 and 54 - Each one of 25 copies. - From the series "Self Portraits", which comprises a total of 9 drypoints. - Published by Petersburg Press, London 1971 (with the watermark). - Printed by Maurice Payne. - Enclosed: The 6 original exhibition labels from Galerie Farber, Brussels with the handwritten annotations to the works. - Rare and early works by the Pop Art artist. - Jim Dine's oeuvre spans over sixty years and includes prints, paintings and drawings. At the heart of his art, regardless of the medium of each work, is an intense process of autobiographical reflection, a relentless exploration and critique of the self through a series of highly personal motifs, as is very impressively evident in the present works.
