One of 10 copies. - WVZ Roman Signer, vol. 1, p. 288/289 - Provenance: German private ownership, acquired from Häusler Contemporary, here from the artist's studio. - Only the glowing shower of sparks hints at the recent rocket launch. A fascinating moment, a snapshot, captured in a photograph. The background to the two-part, spectacular work "House with Rockets" from 1981 is a performance by Roman Signer, with which the artist has attracted international attention since the early 1980s. The glowing tail of the rocket in contrast to the inconspicuous little house captures a mixture of poetry and humor, as Signer's performances are always driven by his curiosity to explore the consequences of his interventions in an almost playful manner. Last but not least, the photographic work "House with Rockets" refers to the transience of every trace and the preciousness of every moment. - "Roman Signer has always seen himself as a sculptor. He even describes actions that last only brief moments as sculptures. In these "event or time sculptures", he is always concerned with problems, actions and time sequences in space. The temporal dimension of his works becomes a metaphor for change and development. Spontaneous, transient and timeless things can thus be expressed."
