Theory of Weaving
[Lyon, circa 1920] -Manuscript in folio, plum half-chagrin with corners, ornate spine (period binding).
Important manuscript of over 500 pages of a complete course on weaving theory, dating from the early 20th century, for use in a workshop in the Lyon region. In perfectly legible handwriting, it covers all aspects of weaving: silkworm rearing, use of fibers, preparation of threads, different weaves, etc. It includes numerous drawings, diagrams and fabric samples.
In the center are two 4-page printed leaflets, the first giving the "Description de la mécanique Jacquard", with 4 plates, and the second proposing the "Description de la mécanique Verdol Substituant le papier sans fin aux cartons enlacés de la mécanique Jacquard", also with 4 plates. A printed table of fabric costs was added at the end.
