First edition of Ovid's Metamorphoses set in rondeaux by Benserade. Very luxurious, it was commissioned by Louis XIV and dedicated to the Dauphin.
It is illustrated with a title-frontispiece by Charles Lebrun, engraved by Sébastien Leclerc, a title vignette with the royal coat of arms, two culs-de-lampe, and 226 intaglio vignettes by Leclerc, Le Pautre, and François Chauveau.
A good copy in 19th-century binding.
