After René QUILLIVIC (Plouhinec, 1879 - Paris, 1969)
La Pleureuse de l'Ile de Sein.
Subject in bronze with green patina.
Height: 16.4 cm. Length: 12.5 cm. Width: 8.8 cm.
René Quillivic was responsible for many monunents to the victims of the Great War. Our subject pays tribute to the mothers and wives of soldiers who died for France. It is reproduced from the granite model located at the Bouteillerie cemetery in Nantes since 2016. Tradition has it that this group had been installed for a cemetery on the Ile de Sein, then moved by the German occupiers, and finally donated by the artist to the city of Nantes in 1948.
