THE PORSCHE 911 JUBILÉ The Porsche 911 SC has a rich and fascinating history, marked by its introduction in 1978 and its development until 1983. Here's an overview of its history, highlighting the background to its launch, its evolution and its impact on the Porsche brand. Porsche launches the 911 SC to replace the 911S and Carrera 3.0 models. At the time, the energy crisis of the 1970s prompted automakers to redesign their models to meet stricter fuel consumption and emissions standards. The 911 SC was therefore designed to be more reliable and economical, while offering solid performance. Its 3.0-liter flat-six engine initially produces 180 hp. Thanks to continuous improvements, power increased to 188 hp in 1980 and reached 204 hp in 1981, particularly for European versions. These improvements enabled the 911 SC to maintain its high performance while meeting environmental standards. The 911 SC is renowned for its robustness and reliability. It incorporates proven technologies and high-quality components, making it a particularly durable car, capable of covering long distances without major problems. It retains the iconic 911 design, with its wide fenders and round headlights. Inside, ergonomics have been improved with more comfortable seats and a more intuitive control layout. The 911 SC "Jubilé" or "Ferry Porsche" is the first "limited series" to be released in Europe, celebrating 50 years since the creation of the Porsche design office. This version is distinguished by a "meteor grey" color and a "burgundy" interior, and the seats are signed by Ferry Porsche on the headrests. Produced in just 200 examples (170 coupés and 30 targas), it is one of the brand's most limited series and a highly prized object among collectors the world over. The Porsche 911 SC, with its 3.0-liter engine and special editions such as the Jubilee, marked an important era in Porsche history. It adapted to the challenges of its time, while retaining the brand's sporting spirit and timeless appeal. Today, it is cherished for its reliability, performance and crucial role in the evolution of the Porsche 911.
