Carion,J. Fine parchment binding of the period with full bands and overlapping edges, with handwritten title on spine, cover with triple fillets and floral center and corner pieces, red edges. (Without the old clasps, somewhat stained). The chronicle of Johann Nägelein from Bietigheim, who called himself Casrion in Latin, was first published in German in Wittenberg in 1633. It is considered the first chronicle of the Reformation. Melnachthon and later his son-in-law Caspar Peucer edited Carion's original and expanded it extensively. Some spotting throughout, some leaves with creases. Small worm mark in the cover of the front board and the first four leaves as well as in the last approx. 100 leaves in the white lower margin. Erasure stamp of the Lund University Library on the flyleaf.
