"A translation of Nicol's Lapidary (1652), the first english work on precious stones, which (probably for the mystic elements which it contains) proved highly popular, and was translated into several European languages" (Stoheran). - German first edition, which F. did not own a. described as very rare. The translator is the well-known alchemist Lange. - Browned due to paper, somewhat browned and fingerstained. Title with cut-out hs. Ownership note cut out. Inner hinge mostly open.
